HSF System Begins Construction of a New Kaufland Store in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic

International construction group HSF System has commenced, as general contractor, the construction of a new Kaufland store in Hradec Králové. The building is being developed on a site between Sokolská Street, Benešova třída and Zborovská Street, near the Mileta intersection. The project forms part of a broader transformation of the area following the modernization of the transport hub and further planned development in the vicinity. The store is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2027.

The new store will take the form of a two-storey building. Customer parking will be located on the first above-ground floor. The second floor will house the Kaufland sales area itself, covering approximately 3,000 m², complemented by additional retail units.

“Our goal is to ensure the smooth progress of construction and deliver a modern retail building with a quality that meets the requirements of both the investor and future customers,” says Radka Rybolová, Head of Division at HSF System, adding: “We can rely on many years of experience in the construction of retail parks and department stores. Retail projects have recently become a substantial part of our general contracting portfolio.”

The project also includes provisions for future expansion. The building’s structure will allow for the construction of additional office space on upper floors. The development also includes a covered delivery yard, ensuring efficient store supplies while keeping logistics operations separate from customer areas.

Preparations for the implementation of the new store began as early as 2017. However, the actual construction had to wait for transport infrastructure issues to be resolved, particularly the reconstruction of the Mileta intersection. This is one of the city’s key transport projects, and its completion opens up space for further development of the area.

“The realization of this project has long been a much-anticipated milestone for us. We are excited to see the construction move into its above-ground phase, when the project will begin to grow rapidly under the hands of our experts and take on its final shape,” says František Hucl, Head of Construction Department, Kaufland.
