The first 3D printed car wash in Slovakia

A car wash made from 3D-printed concrete has been completed next to the Klokan shopping centre in Žilina. The project was delivered by the international construction group HSF System as the general contractor. It is the first car wash of its kind in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, and one of the first functional buildings of this type in Europe. The structure consists of 40 concrete elements produced in just 36 hours using a unique patented 3D concrete printing technology. The investor is MC Štadión, a member of the KLM real estate development group.

The new car wash complements the Klokan shopping centre, which HSF System completed as the general contractor in 2025. The use of 3D concrete printing had already been incorporated into the master plan for the entire site. The new facility expands the range of services available at the Klokan shopping centre, located close to Žilina city centre and the MŠK Žilina stadium. “What makes this project truly exceptional is that it was developed entirely in-house – from the initial concept and design through project preparation to the final construction. It proves that 3D printing is no longer just a vision of the future but a practical reality. Thanks to this technology, we are already able to replace conventional construction methods with advanced automated solutions,” says Tomáš Kosa, CEO of HSF System Construction Group.

The car wash is made up of 40 3D-printed concrete elements, with the printing process taking a total of 36 hours. Using 3D concrete printing, components can either be manufactured directly on the construction site or produced in a factory and transported for assembly. For the Žilina project, the latter approach was chosen. The building was assembled on site from prefabricated elements, reducing dependence on weather conditions while ensuring greater manufacturing precision and smoother coordination of subsequent construction works. “The building fully complies with all required standards, including thermal insulation and fire resistance requirements set by the relevant authorities. It is already fully operational and serving its intended purpose,” adds Tomáš Kosa.

The individual components of the car wash were printed in the Czech Republic by Coral Construction Technologies using its proprietary 3D Concrete Printing (3DCP) technology. This innovative method enables buildings to be constructed more quickly, with greater precision and significantly less material waste. “This car wash is clear evidence that we have moved beyond prototypes to real-world construction projects. While the building itself is relatively small, the technology behind it is truly unique on a global scale. It has been printed using standard concrete, and we have been developing this technology for almost five years,” says Tomáš Vránek, CEO of Coral Construction Technologies.

The international construction group HSF System and Coral Construction Technologies are building on their previous experience with 3D concrete printing, including the world’s first 3D-printed restaurant, completed at the Kopřivná ski resort in the Czech Republic. Coral Construction Technologies is 50% owned by the investment holding PURPOSIA Group through HSF System. “Our cooperation with HSF System is helping to bring 3D concrete printing from the development stage into real construction projects. Our goal is to demonstrate that robotics and automation represent the future of construction, just as they have already transformed modern manufacturing,” concludes Tomáš Vránek.
